Directions
Traveling by plane
The nearest airport is the City Airport Bremen (BRE) from where you
can take the Publicexpress
bus for a direct connection to Oldenburg (about 50 minutes). Alternatively, you can use public transport (Tram No. 6) to the central railway station (15m) and from there proceed by train to Oldenburg (30-40m, see below, you can purchase a ticket at price level F that is valid until Oldenburg).
Other nearby airports are in Hamburg (HAM) and Hannover (HAJ), where
you can use public transport to get to the central train station
(15-30 minutes). From there take a train to Oldenburg (2h, see
below).
If you are traveling from overseas and your first stop in Europe is Frankfurt (FRA), you could get a train to Oldenburg
from there (5h). Note, you have to change train at least once.
Traveling by train
You can check out the connections to Oldenburg on the train
planner of the Deutsche Bahn (DB), where you can also purchase
online tickets. Special price tickets ("Sparpreis") are available sometimes, if you book in advance. Note that these tickets are
often booked with a fixed connection and are only valid in the
trains printed on the ticket.
